The University of Hertfordshire is seeking to recruit to an exciting opportunity as an Information Manager (Subject Librarian), working closely with the School of Health and Social work and other Schools. This role supports the academic, research, and organisational aims of the University of Hertfordshire by advocating for and embedding the team’s services and the library and information resources in the delivery of research-informed learning and teaching at the University.

The role will sit within Academic Resources, part of the Library and Computing Services Business Unit, based in the Learning Resources Centre at the College Lane Campus. The post-holder will work closely with staff across Library and Computing Services, and relevant contacts across the Schools and wider University.

Main duties and responsibilities

Key responsibilities include collaborating with students, researchers, and staff to understand their information needs and provide tailored support on locating, evaluating, and using information effectively. This involves developing and maintaining collections, providing online and in-person training on information literacy, and ensuring that digital and physical resources are accessible and up to date. This role will have responsibility of budgeting, preparing funding bids, contributing to data management, research support, and other projects, ensuring that information dissemination aligns with institutional goals.

Skills and experience required

You will have experience working in a library or information setting, with a strong track record in establishing productive working relationships with management teams and large groups of information services users at all levels. You will have experience of budgeting, preparing funding bids, discovery, delivery, application and use of information to meet academic and business requirements. You will require a demonstrable ability to manage and contribute to projects, with excellent knowledge of collection development, information and digital literacies, as well as learning, teaching, research and business needs of staff and students in higher education.

Qualifications required

You will be educated with a minimum of a degree or equivalent, with a postgraduate professional qualification in librarianship or information science, or proven relevant experience.
