This full-time post is available from 6 January 2024 for a 12-month period, based on the Tremough campus in the Technical Strategy and Operations team. We welcome applicants either as a fixed-term position or looking to fulfil the role as a secondment.
Summary of the role
The role will support research activities for the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy (ESE) at the Tremough campus in Penryn. As Technical manager you will be responsible for supporting the Technical Operations Manager for Research and supervising the day-to-day activity of junior members of the team. You will take a leading role in ensuring core research activities have the appropriate resources and take a lead on health and safety where appropriate.

The Centre for Resilience in Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW) is a new partnership venture between the University of Exeter and South West Water to investigate some of the most pressing challenges in the water and waste sectors. The Centre is a truly cross-disciplinary research building, including academic staff from Geography, Biosciences, Engineering and others. The Centre is homed within the Faculty for Environment, Science and Economy and aligns very closely with the vision and priorities of the wider Faculty.
This flagship building will house specialist laboratory facilities for water, waste, soil and vegetation analysis and help facilitate collaboration between industry and academia. Due to be completed in Summer 2023, at the heart of the research efforts in the building are the technical staff. These technical staff range from specialist Experimental Officers who provide research data, method development and instrument operation to the groups in the building through to Laboratory Assistants who provide more general laboratory support.
