About the role

This part-time role focuses on providing general administrative support in relation to day-to-day operations, including submission of expenses, ensuring the efficient oversight, coordination or direct completion of related activities and responsibilities, project/grant management duties, and support for new funding and other applications or requests. This will require meeting deadlines and proactive coordination with relevant internal and external collaborators and contacts, managing communication between financial, contractual and other stakeholders.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will be coordinating activities, managing deadlines, and acting as the key point of contact between research, financial, contractual teams, both internal and external. You will also handle expense tracking, provide support for applications, and take on general administrative duties to ensure smooth operations.

What we are looking for:

  • Education: A BSc or MSc in a science or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience; a management or project management qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience: Previous experience in programme or project management, research administration, and working with research grants or industrial partners is valuable.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with administrative systems in a research-focused academic environment and knowledge of financial reporting protocols, including research funding management, are key.
  • Skills & Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent computer proficiency (including MS Office and database systems), and experience in research project management. Candidates should also demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to handle a high volume of tasks and work under pressure.
  • Personal Attributes: You should have a meticulous approach, attention to detail, the ability to take initiative, and a proactive attitude in identifying and solving problems. Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively are essential.
