About the Role
We are recruiting a Scientific Computing Research Infrastructure Engineer to complete a team of five who provide subject specific computing resource and expertise to research projects across the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences. They will be tasked with developing and maintaining research computing infrastructure across the School including the GridPP and School Linux clusters, as well as laboratory computers running many different analysis and experiment systems.
About You
You will have a PhD (or are about to receive a PhD) in a STEM subject and be interested in a career at the interface of research and computing. You will be an inquisitive technical problem solver and a team player with good communication skills. You will be an experienced Linux user, with some programming skills. You will likely be familiar with working in research/laboratory settings.
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The School of Physical and Chemical Sciences consists of the Department of Physics and Astronomy and the Department of Chemistry. It is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 530 undergraduate students, 70 postgraduate taught students, and 130 teaching and research staff. Our research is highly collaborative, working with colleagues across all three faculties and supported by partnerships with industry, NHS and other stakeholders.
