About the Role
A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available in Prof. John Connelly’s group to develop novel immuno-competent human skin models. This will be a multi-disciplinary project in collaboration with Glaxosmithkline for 12 months with the possibility of extension for a further 12 months. The successful PDRA will establish new methods for integrating tissue-resident immune cells into 3D skin equivalent models and investigate the response to inflammatory cytokines and immunotherapy. The PDRA will be expected to prepare manuscripts using high-quality data, make oral presentations and contribute to the overall management of the laboratory.
The post will be based in the Centre for Cell Biology and Cutaneous Research, Blizard Institute, within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. The Blizard Institute is an outstanding research environment with excellent core facilities including microscopy, phenotypic screening and the QMUL Genome Centre. The post holder will also have access to advanced biofabrication facilities available within the CREATE Lab facility.
About You
We seek an experienced scientist with a strong background in building complex in vitro models and working with 3D culture systems. Additional experience in skin biology, immunology, or microfabrication would be highly advantageous. Successful candidates will be expected to hold a PhD or soon to complete a PhD in a relevant subject area and be able to demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
