About the School/Department/Institute/Project
Department of Renal Medicine and Transplantation is one of biggest tertiary renal referral Centre in UK. Renal Research laboratory at WHRI is where basic science research is conducted. Candidate will look at “the role of SGLT2i in the prevention of recurrent stones” in patients with nephrolithiasis. The candidate will be expected to attend renal stones clinic, recruit patients and conduct a RCT to study the lithogenic profile of such patients in the presence or absence of SGLT2i. Moreover, in vitro urine saturation techniques will used to find the mechanism of benefit of any i.e. affect glucose and uric acid on the crystallization of calcium oxalate.
