Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield 

The School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science - Department of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Robotics Engineering to support our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in two or more of the following specific areas: Mathematics, Principles of AI and Applied AI, Principles of Machine Learning and Applied Machine Learning, General Robotics Systems, Navigation and Sensing, Drones, Control Systems & Automation, Robotic Product Design, Deep Learning for Robotics, Ethics for Robotics. 

Main duties and responsibilities

You will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also support learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking lectures, tutorials, laboratory and administrative activities. 

You will be expected to contribute actively to research interests of the school and develop short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the school. You will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects and apply for external funding to support research and commercial activities. 

Skills and experience required

You must have experience of working in the robotics engineering and AI subject area within Higher Education or in a relevant sector. In addition to this you will need proven experience of teaching or tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. You must have a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support at University level and a potential willingness to attract external funding in research. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with excellent oral and written communication skills. You must have a strong desire to enthuse and engage our students and be effective within a team setting. We will also expect from you a willingness to develop module and programme level material whilst also demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and to undertake professional qualifications where appropriate.

Qualifications required

You must hold a minimum of a first degree or equivalent in a relevant Engineering, Computer Science, or a related subject area.
