The role

You will contribute to extending the research profile of Art History and Visual Culture at Exeter, particularly in areas related to Contemporary Art and Curation.

The post includes responsibility for the design, development and delivery of teaching and learning materials across a range of modules within these programmes, with a focus on any aspect of contemporary art and curation. You will be closely involved in the development and delivery of the MA Curation: Contemporary Art and Cultural Management throughout the year, including supporting the student experience, convening and teaching modules, dissertation supervision, managing the production of students’ curatorial projects and managing relationships with partner institutions where the student placements will take place. The post-holder will also contribute to undergraduate team-taught core modules and specialist teaching in Art History and Visual Culture. Direct experience of working in art curation is essential along with the ability to build industry networks. Candidates should demonstrate a strong background in both art history and visual culture and feel comfortable moving between these interlocking realms of our programme.

About you

You will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Art History and Visual Culture and/or Curation or a related field and have an independent, internationally-recognised research programme in a relevant active field of research
  • A strong record in attracting funding for research, or demonstrate potential to attract such funding
  • Awareness of feminist, queer, decolonial and intersectional debates in Art History and Visual Culture
  • An active approach to inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research
  • Enthusiasm for delivering high quality undergraduate programmes
  • Strong connections and funded projects with business and community partners
  • Involvement in projects which develop impact
