Technical Analyst within the Translational Modelling Hub at Imperial College London, you will play a vital role in a project.About the role

As a Technical Analyst within the Translational Modelling Hub at Imperial College London, you will play a vital role in a project focused on assessing the impact of the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) activities on malaria public health outcomes. By applying an individual-based mathematical model, you will help quantify the effectiveness of past PMI investments and explore various prospective scenarios to guide future strategic planning. This role offers a unique opportunity to impact global health policy, working closely with partners such as the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and PMI.

What you would be doing

In this role, you will apply an established malaria transmission model to estimate the impact of PMI investments across multiple countries. You will calibrate and analyse the model to produce key outcome estimates, such as cases averted, deaths prevented, and healthy life years gained. Your responsibilities include developing prospective investment scenarios, performing comparative analyses, validating outputs against historical data, and documenting assumptions and results. You will also design accessible reports and presentations for diverse audiences, contributing strategic insights to improve PMI’s future malaria control efforts.

What we are looking for

  • A passion for applying modelling techniques to address global health challenges.
  • MSc (or equivalent experience) in epidemiology, or a similar quantitative field (PhD desirable).
  • Strong experience in epidemiological data analysis and infectious disease transmission modelling.
  • Proficiency in R programming, with a demonstrated interest in global health.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with international partners.

What we can offer you

  • A chance to contribute to a high-impact global health project working alongside key external partners.
  • The opportunity to upskill in areas of malaria epidemiology and the use of transmission models to address public health questions.
  • The opportunity to continue your career at a world-leading institution and be part of our mission to continue science for humanity
  • Benefit from sector-leading salary and remuneration package (including 39 days off a year and generous pension schemes)
  • Get access to a range of workplace benefits including a flexible working policy from day 1, generous family leave packages, on-site leisure facilities and a cycle-to-work scheme
  • Interest-free season ticket loan schemes for travel
  • Be part of a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work culture with various staff networks and resources designed to support your personal and professional wellbeing.
