Job description
We are currently seeking a Patrol Officer for the Security Team, part of our Estates and Campus Services Section. This post will be on an annualised hours contract.
Duties of the Role
This post will involve ensuring the welfare, safety and security of a diverse campus population, undertaking a wide range of duties within the University Campus and externally to university owned and administered properties.
Responsibilities will include responding to enquiries in person, by phone or email, liaising with other University Sections, providing first aid, mental health support and pastoral care to students and staff, attending emergency situations, fire alarm activation and evacuations, dealing with conflict situations and patrolling and securing the University campus.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will have a first aid qualification, training in mental health first aid and training in conflict management and physical intervention, or will be willing to undergo training in order to achieve these qualifications and requirements.
You will ideally have previous experience of providing a security and welfare support service, have experience in working in a customer focused environment, be able to remain calm and professional under pressure and you will have the ability to deal with conflict situations with confidence.
Basic computer skills, good negotiation skills and excellent attention to detail are essential for this post.
Due to the nature of the work, this appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
