The Research and Enterprise Office (REO) is an Administrative Section within the University’s Professional Services. The REO delivers services to the University’s academic community to support a range of research, impact and knowledge exchange activities, contributes to a wide range of business engagement activities and facilitates the delivery of services to business, as well as to the wider community.
Duties of the Role
The Research Systems Manager is responsible for the strategic direction, management, maintenance, support and training of University’s key research systems. The Research Systems Manager leads on the development and implementation of changes to the University’s key research systems and on projects to deliver new systems when appropriate. The Research System manager has responsibility for the delivery of research data analytics and insight and provides line management for the Research Information and Data Insights Officer.
The Research Systems Manager will report to the Head of Research Governance and Planning and work closely with a wide stakeholder group, including professional services colleagues from DITS, People and Culture and Academic Department Heads, Research Directors and Senior academic leaders.
Skills and qualifications required
The successful candidate will be an experienced IT and Research Administration professional with detailed knowledge of the UK Higher Education environment and strong understanding of common systems and technologies that are deployed in this environment. A proven ability to solve problems and to develop and implement appropriate solutions is essential, as is ability to quickly understand complex business requirements and develop processes and systems that support them.
