An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Administrator to join the Faculty of Health Research Support Team. 

About the role 

We are seeking an Administrator to undertake a rewarding role, providing effective, customer focused, comprehensive, proactive and reactive administrative support, in a professional manner. 

The primary function is to oversee and deliver a broad range of administrative services, which support and enhance the University’s Academic Mission, acting as a key enabler for the delivery of the Research Strategy. This will include supporting Academics who work within the research field, Studentships, Research Excellence Framework and general administrative tasks. This is a fast-paced area which will require you to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and have a calm, methodical outlook, have the ability to work independently and also collaboratively as required. 

You will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally to the University, including academic and professional services, such as members of the Doctoral College, Faculty’s Associate Dean Research, Unit of Assessment Coordinators, Associate Heads of School for Research, collaborators, and stakeholders. 

You will need to have excellent communication skills both written and spoken with the confidence to network with the wider university teams and external collaborators if required. You will be required at times to produce a variety of data collection documents and present these to the team and the wider teams. The role requires flexibility to be able to support others in their role during peak times. 

The role requires a meticulous eye for detail, and the ability to address any discrepancies accordingly. You will need to have the ability to use your own initiative and to think critically. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, data collection tools and packages, emerging AI processes and a working knowledge of teamsites is a requirement for this role. 

You will need to have some previous line management experience, which is supportive and constructive. You will need to have the ability to undertake the PDR process and the aptitude to deal with any concerns that might arise. 

Reporting to the Senior Administrator, you will work alongside other members of this small, friendly, busy team. 

The post will be located in the John Bull Building based on the North Campus Derriford, but will require travel to other sites for meetings and collaborative work. 

This is a part-time position working 22.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Remote working is available up to 1 days a week.
