The Faculty of Science and Engineering wish to appoint a Senior Technician to provide teaching and research support for the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics.

You will work as part of a team under the direction of the School Technical Manager and deliver support in all aspects of Digital Fabrication including laser cutting and 3D printing, and contribution to CAD & CAM delivery within the School. You will need to demonstrate the relevant skills, a suitable amount of work experience and a commitment to the technical delivery/technical education within the technical team. This role will support a broad range of activities including undergraduate projects, teaching, research and outreach activities.

You will be expected to have an NVQ/BTEC level 3/4 or Degree in a relevant subject area or equivalent or substantial appropriate experience in the subject. You must have practical knowledge and experience in digital fabrication with a particular focus on laser cutting and 3D printing, CAD and CAM skills, including the use of software such as SolidWorks, SolidCAM and Fusion360. As this is a heavily student focused role, experience in a student based focused environment would be desirable. A key element of the role will be the day-to-day operation of the DigiFab laboratory, and as such, experience of working in a H&S focused manner is essential and experience of taking responsibility for H&S in a workshop is desirable.

This is a full-time permanent contract working 37 hours per week.
