About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Nigel Stallard (Professor, Director of Warwick Clinical Trials Unit) at n.stallard@warwick.ac.uk.
Warwick Clinical Trials Unit wishes to appoint a Research Fellow to work on part of the EU Horizon project Innovate designs, extrapolation, simulation methods and evidence-tools for rare diseases addressing regulatory needs (INVENTS) led by Professor Sarah Zohar (INSERM, Paris).
You will contribute to a work package of this exciting project led by Professor Nigel Stallard at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit and Professor Martin Posch (Medical University of Vienna) that focusses on Increasing robustness of small population confirmatory trials using validated and credible models.
Based at Warwick Clinical Trials Unit under the direction of the Professor Nigel Stallard, and in collaboration with the wider project team, you will undertake innovative research, using analytic and simulation approaches to develop and evaluate novel statistical methods. This will involve developing Bayesian borrowing methods and exploring incorporation of PK/PD or in-silico models in the adaptive design of clinical trials that incorporate data from related populations. You will also play a full role in the project, including attending project meetings.
You will be encouraged, in collaboration with colleagues in WMS as appropriate, to lead or contribute to grant applications to generate further funding for your research programme. Although this is primarily a research post, there may also be some opportunities for teaching and assisting in the supervision of postgraduate students.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
You will possess a PhD or equivalent qualification in statistics or a closely related subject or equivalent work experience with expertise in the development of statistical methodology for clinical trial design and analysis and interest or experience in adaptive design methods, Bayesian methods and/or PK/PD modelling. You will also have excellent communication and team-working skills required for a successful collaborative project. You may not possess a PhD if you have a track record of developing statistical methods in medical research.
For further information regarding the skills required for this role please see the personal specification section of the attached job description.
If you are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD but have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant at the top of level 5 of the University grade structure. Upon receipt of evidence of the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure.
CLOSING DATE: Wednesday 01 January 2025 at 11.55 pm
