The role
The School of Biological Sciences is seeking to appoint a Pathway 3 Lecturer (grade K), as the operational lead of our highly successful Bioinformatics taught Masters programme.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a committed teacher who will oversee teaching on several units in the programme, devise and supervise research projects, manage the day-to-day administration, and deliver tutoring and mentoring to the student cohort. You will play a key role in the delivery and evaluation of new units for the course, including modernizing the course to accommodate new developments in the broad field of bioinformatics and computational biology. You will also be expected to develop your teaching skills and materials and be willing to innovate and undertake training as required. You will have a PhD in bioinformatics or a related scientific area (e.g., phylogenetics, comparative genomics).

Working closely alongside the School Education Director, existing bioinformatics staff, and the PW3 team, this appointment is intended to cultivate excellence in teaching in the School. Those with interests in bioinformatics skills development, the cross-disciplinary potential of bioinformatics, and in developing a strong pedagogic research profile in this area, are strongly encouraged to apply.
