The role
The Data and Reporting Team, based within Student Journey, is responsible for admissions data, reporting and forecasting across both undergraduate and postgraduate taught.
This critical role will manage the team of four data analysts to ensure that our suite of self-service reporting and our sophisticated forecasting models support the university in making the right decisions to achieve its ambitious targets to grow and diversify its student body.
What will you be doing?
Manage a team of data analysts. You’ll provide excellent day-to-day management of staff at different stages in their careers, investing in the development of their skills and empowering personal development.
Setting the team’s priorities. The team work within an Agile Scrum framework, so you’ll be acting as Scrum Master. Whether it’s servicing ad-hoc data requests, developing new reporting or making improvements to our forecasting models, you’ll need to set the team’s priorities and ensure we deliver what the university needs at each point in the cycle.
Provide technical reporting and forecasting expertise. The team work primarily in SQL, Python and Excel so you’ll need to be able to support them in overcoming complex technical challenges when working on our reporting or forecasting models.
Support the university in meeting intake targets. You’ll need to build excellent relationships with admissions stakeholders and senior decision makers to help them make key decisions in times of uncertainty. You won’t just be providing data, you’ll be a key partner in the room as a recognised expert in admissions strategy.
Making complexity understandable. You’ll turn the complex world of admissions data and forecasting into easily understood, actionable information for colleagues across the institution, particular our academic colleagues within faculties.
