Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at LUMS invites applications for a newly available tenure-track position. Candidates with a demonstrated record of excellence in any field of pure or applied mathematics will be given full consideration, though some preference may be given to those with expertise in statistics.

The Department of Mathematics is part of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering) at LUMS and is one of the most vibrant and active departments in South Asia. The Department is recognized as an Emerging Regional Center of Excellence in Mathematics by the European Mathematical Society and hosts the prestigious joint International Mathematics Master degree program in cooperation with the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP).

Successful tenure-track candidates are expected to conduct independent and original research at the highest level, to demonstrate academic leadership, to apply for national and international research grants, and to collaborate with other researchers within as well as outside the department. Successful tenure-track candidates will be provided with a startup research grant.

Responsibilities of a tenure-track position include teaching core and elective courses in the field of specialization and in related disciplines, at Bachelors, Masters and PhD level. In addition, the department runs several highly successful outreach programs. The language of instruction is English.
