Assistant/Associate Professor in Life Sciences

The Department of Life Sciences at Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor on tenure track.

LUMS is a leading research university in Pakistan that offers excellent facilities and opportunities for advancement for faculty members and provides an outstanding learning environment for its students. The Department of Life Sciences pursues research in diverse fields of Cell & Molecular Biology, including Cancer Biology, Genetics & Epigenetics, Plant Molecular Biology, Molecular Microbiology & Immunology, and Computational Biology. Committed to advancing knowledge in the life sciences, the department has established a very supportive environment for the success of its faculty, staff, and students. The department offers a rigorous and innovative academic program through two curriculum streams i.e., Molecular & Cellular Biology and Computational Biology. At SBASSE there is a strong focus on interdisciplinarity in both teaching and research with lively collaborations across life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, and engineering.

The successful applicant will be expected to establish an independent research group, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Molecular & Cell Biology, Microbiology & Immunology, Biochemistry or Computational Biology, advise and mentor students at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in departmental and university service activities.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Microbiology & Immunology/Computational Biology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or a related field
• Post-doctoral research experience in a relevant area
• Excellent publication record
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level is desirable but not required
• Excellent communication skills with proficiency in the English language
