About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate between Huma Therapeutics and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in the field of Digital Health. Huma Therapeutics is a leading digital health company, specializing in remote patient monitoring, patient-generated health data collection, and hospital-at-home solutions for national healthcare systems.

The project will develop an innovative smartphone-based digital tool to remotely assess patient state, and upper and lower limb range of motion. By integrating smartphone video, accelerometer data and potentially patient questionnaire data, and applying cutting-edge AI methods and biomechanical models, the tool will provide detailed insights into patient state, movement and symptom progression. Data will be collected and analysed at the QMUL Human Performance Lab, which is managed jointly by Sports and Exercise Medicine (WHRI) and SEMS. A proof-of-concept study will evaluate the tool’s effectiveness in a clinical setting for patients with musculoskeletal conditions.

About You

We are seeking a KTP Associate with expertise in human-centered research. You should have a background in engineering, mathematics, or biomedical sciences, with experience in interdisciplinary research. Knowledge of rehabilitation or clinical applications is a plus. Alternatively, clinicians with biomechanical or relevant scientific skills are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will develop skills in AI, digital health technologies, user testing, biomechanics, human performance experiments, and clinical applications. You will be supported by experts across these fields, with significant opportunities for training and professional development. This role offers an excellent chance to embed knowledge in both academic and industry settings.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The KTP Associate will be primarily based at Huma Therapeutics' London headquarters (21-24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP) as part of the R&D team. You will also work at QMUL’s Human Performance Lab (Mile End, London) for data collection and collaborate with the Digital Environment Research Institute at QMUL.

This appointment is for two years. The role is based at Queen Mary’s Mile End and Whitechapel campuses in London. Benefits include a £5,000 personal development fund.

In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities.
