About the role
The Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change (ISCC) at the University of Bath, alongside the Faculties of Science (Department of Chemistry) and Engineering & Design, is seeking a Lecturer to join the ISCC.
We are looking for someone whose track record demonstrates the potential for, or realisation of, internationally leading research in systems approaches to environmental impacts and sustainability of chemical technologies.
About you
The successful candidate will interact with and complement existing research within the Institute and more broadly within the Faculties of Science and Engineering & Design.
This position will be closely aligned with the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach (CSCT). Over the next 8 years the CDT will train around 70 PhD level scientists and engineers.
The position will sit within both the Department of Chemistry and an appropriate Engineering department but will be closely integrated in the wider CDT and ISCC.
At Bath we offer an exceptional environment for research, teaching and learning and we wish to support you in reaching your potential for internationally leading research.
The ISCC is building a community of researchers in the broad area of sustainability that crosses traditional boundaries – looking at fundamental sciences to whole-system approaches and manufacturing to social transformations linked to sustainability issues.
You will be willing and able to develop content and teach the principles of sustainability/circular economy/LCA to both specialists and non-specialists, and supervising CDT PhD students is vital for this position as well as the ability to work across disciplines.
You should hold a PhD and be able to demonstrate the potential to develop an internationally leading research programme, to acquire significant funding from UK and international sources, and to produce high quality publications.
Application Requirements & Selection Process:
For informal discussion about the role, please contact Professor Matthew Davidson, Director, Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change, and PI, EPSRC CDT in Sustainable Chemical Technologies (chsmgd@bath.ac.uk), or Francesca Guiso Gallisai, Operations Director, Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change, and Co-I, EPSRC CDT in Sustainable Chemical Technologies (fgg20@bath.ac.uk)
We are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment for all staff, including mentorship and flexible working arrangements.
The University currently holds an Athena SWAN Silver award, and we are working to further improve equality, diversity and inclusion.
Interviews and presentations are scheduled for 20-21 January 2025.
