Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

The Institute of Science and Environment is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Biomedical Science. The successful candidate will join an experienced, ambitious, and forward-thinking teaching team, known for its innovation in course design and delivery. Our team currently delivers Bachelor of Science programmes in Biomedical Science, Chemistry, and Zoology. In April 2024, our Biomedical Science programme received successful accreditation from the IBMS, and we welcomed our first cohort of students to the accredited programme in September 2024.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of core modules across various programmes and year groups, including integrated foundation years. They will also be expected to engage actively in research and scholarship to support their teaching activities. The ideal candidate will have clinical experience or be an HCPC-registered biomedical scientist and/or a member of the IBMS. While lecturing experience in Biomedical Science at the higher education level is desirable, it is not essential. For those new to higher education teaching, the University offers a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Learning and Teaching for Higher Education.

We particularly welcome applications from candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Clinical genetics

Haematology

Pathology
