Are you interested in helping to shape and develop the next generation of Foresters?
The Institute of Science and Environment is recruiting a Link Tutor to support the delivery of our innovative Professional Forester Degree Apprenticeship.
We are looking for a committed, highly motivated individual with strong communication, organisational and networking skills who is passionate about Forestry and has the ability to foster a culture of progression with our work based learning apprenticeship that generates recognition, respect and engagement from our employer partners. Candidates should have a first degree and experience of working with apprentices or work-based learners. Teaching experience is not essential but candidates should have a desire and the skills to support the education and training of others.
The University of Cumbria is home to the National School of Forestry which has been delivering applied professional forestry courses for over 50 years and has a growing portfolio of research and knowledge exchange projects with colleagues in the wider Institute. We have strong links to the sector and its professional body, the Institute of Chartered Foresters. You will join our forestry team which comprises a combination of forestry academics and those with a more professional forest management background, enabling us to blend theory and real world application throughout our provision.
Based at our Ambleside campus or regionally, the forestry team work closely with colleagues in Conservation, Geography and Outdoor Education. Our location in the heart of the Lake District gives us easy access to a wealth of field sites for practical teaching including the University’s own area of semi-natural woodland.
Informal Enquiries: Liz Mallabon | Head of Teaching, Learning and Student Experience | elizabeth.mallabon@cumbria.ac.uk
We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.
