The Department of Neuromuscular Diseases is a hub for clinical and research excellence across the spectrum of spinal cord and neuromuscular diseases. Our group of world-leading clinical, genetic and basic science researchers focus their work on understanding the causes and biological mechanisms leading to neuromuscular disease and translating this knowledge into developing novel therapeutic solutions.
The Queen Square Motor Neuron Disease Centre (QSMND) is part of a national network of Universities and NHS Institutes at the forefront of research and treatment of motor neuron disease. It is at the nexus of recent developments towards the creation of a UK MND Research Institute, and it is one of the five Universities and NHS Trusts in the UK that are part of the United 2 End MND (U2EM) effort to establish a translational platform, where research in the lab is expected to feed into clinical trials and vice versa.
We are now recruiting a Clinical Trials Coordinator to facilitate new, high-quality investigator-led and commercial clinical trials at the QSMND. You’ll be responsible for preparation of ethics, MHRA, and R&D submissions, liaising with sponsors and clinical research facilities, negotiating contracts, coordinating audits and inspections, and disseminating information about studies. You will also organise and coordinate trial patient visits and liaise with international sites and funders.
The post is available from 06 January 2025 and is funded by the UCLH BRC until 31 July 2025 in the first instance.
If you need reasonable adjustments or a more accessible format to apply for this job online, or have any queries regarding the application process, please contact the Institute of Neurology HR Team (ion.hradmin at ucl.ac.uk).
Informal enquiries regarding the role can be addressed to Professor Pedro Machado (p.machado at ucl.ac.uk).
Application deadline: 23:59, 03 December 2024.
You’ll have significant experience in clinical trials work in a medical research environment, coupled with good knowledge of data protection legislation and experience of setting up and coordinating multi-centre studies. A strong problem-solver, you’ll be able to synthesise complex ideas and data and apply these accordingly, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
