Post-Doctoral Research Associate (AS)

About the Role
The post would particularly suit an enthusiastic, pro-active, post-doctoral scientist with an immunological background and an interest in using state-of-the-art single cell analysis approaches to understanding intestinal inflammatory disease in human patients. The successful candidate will join an established translational immunology team, incorporating both basic scientists and clinicians focused on gaining a better understanding of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). They will lead a project focused on understanding the role of tissue resident memory T cells in IBD, conducting optimised single cell studies of gene and protein expression in conjunction with T cells receptor repertoire analysis, using cells extract from patient tissue and blood samples. The role is based in the landmark Blizard Institute building and will require the ability to interact effectively with our collaborators in QMUL’s Genome Centre core facility based at the same location, as well as staff in the Royal London Hospital.

About You
The successful candidate will hold a PhD (or be close to completion of their PhD studies) in an area relevant to the project and have practical experience in bioinformatic data analysis. An immunological background and/or previous experience of analysing the types of single cell data generated in the project is highly desirable.

About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 360 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre and supports a combined total of c700 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
