Saïd Business School are recruiting a Senior Research Fellow (i.e., Associate Professor or Professor of Management Science, depending on experience) in Management Science with a focus on AI. The School welcomes applications from faculty who are already established in a business school or related department as a tenure-track or tenured faculty member. In some cases, the title of full Professor may be awarded on appointment.

The position is tenable from 1st September 2025 or at a different date by negotiation.

Within the Management Science Group, the research interests span a variety of applications of operational research and statistical methods. The research is regularly published in leading journals, including , Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management and the Journal of the American Statistical Association.
Members of the group have strong connections with the academic community, serving as journal associate editors and reviewers. They routinely present their research at academic workshops and conferences.

Closing date is 12 midday GMT on Monday the 9th of December.

The successful candidate for this post will have a world-class academic background (as evidenced by peer-reviewed research) in one or more technical disciplines relevant to AI, such as, operations research, statistics, computer science, engineering or finance. The methodological focus of this post is quantitative. Additionally, the School strongly prefers applicants whose current and future research agendas relate to AI. Applicants must also be willing to play a leading role in the School’s efforts to expand its research and teaching capacities in AI and related topics. Currently, the School offers a part-time executive postgraduate diploma in AI (Oxford Executive Diploma in AI for Business) and elective courses on AI/ML in the MBA and EMBA programmes. We expect to expand in the coming years with more AI-related content across all programmes, including in executive education.

In addition, applicants must be committed to a programme of intellectually rigorous, up-to-date, and relevant research in the field of management science that is publishable in the top-tier academic journals in this field, such as those on the Financial Times academic journals list and the ABS Academic Journal Guide 4* journals list. It is essential, therefore, that applicants are already able to show a track record of publishing in these top-tier academic journals (commensurate with their career stage) and be able to clearly demonstrate potential to publish in these types of academic journals in the future.

Finally, a successful candidate will possess expertise that complements and equally enriches the research in Management Science that resonate with the mission, values and strategy of the Saïd Business School and wider University overall.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the School’s graduate teaching programmes, in particular the MBA & EMBA, as well as contribute to the School’s executive education activities, which span open enrolment and custom programmes.

Salary will be competitive relative to senior-level appointments in Management Science and proven academic distinction can be recognised by the University by the award of the title of Professor upon appointment.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for visits and interview shortly after the closing date.
