Deputy Head of Academic Services (Quality) - Maternity Cover

SALARY & HOURS: 35 hrs (fix-term/full-time), Monday to Friday. Band 5, £44,044 per annum

The Corporate and Professional Services departments are the cornerstone of the University.  They each provide essential and valuable support to both each other and the Academic departments, helping the University to function in the most efficient and productive way, ensuring that the students’ experience is second to none.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive individual to provide maternity cover for the Deputy Head of Academic Services (Quality) role within our Academic Services team. This position is vital to supporting the University’s quality assurance framework and compliance initiatives, contributing to the development and maintenance of academic standards across departments. The successful candidate will oversee quality assurance processes, manage regulatory compliance requirements, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement best practices in academic quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the management of quality assurance processes, including course approvals, validations, and programme reviews.
• Support the ongoing development of the University’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to enhance academic standards and compliance.
• Oversee the coordination and revisions of the Quality Handbook to ensure alignment with current regulations and institutional requirements.
• Line-manage the quality team, supporting their development and fostering a consistent approach to quality assurance.
• Collaborate with external bodies (e.g., OfS, QAA) to ensure regulatory compliance.
