NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in General Adult Psychiatry

Salary

We will mirror the successful applicant’s NHS pay and progression including transitional pay arrangement.

The role

The role combines clinical and research training in general adult psychiatry. The successful applicant will be supported by the Centre for Academic Mental Health to develop their own independent programme of research. 

What will you be doing?

The successful applicant will combine completing their clinical training in general adult psychiatry, working towards CCT (50%), with academic training in psychiatry, working towards developing their own programme of research and applying for Advanced Fellowships (50%).

The post is for a maximum of four years, or until CCT is reached, whichever is the sooner. NIHR may approve an extension post-CCT provided this is within the 4 year’s funding for the award.

You should apply if

• You have completed core training or are eligible for higher specialist training in general adult psychiatry in the UK at ST4 level or above.
• You have completed, or submitted, a higher degree by research by the time of applying for the post (PhD or MD or equivalent), you must have passed your viva by the time of taking up the post (1^st September 2025 at the latest).
• You are motivated to continue clinical academic training in psychiatry.

Additional information

Contract type: Fixed term, annually renewable for a period of up to 4 years or until CCT, whichever occurs first

Work pattern: Full time/ 1.0 FTE (less than full time also considered)

Grade: Clinical Academic
