The NIHR Dementia Translational Research Collaboration (D-TRC), Chaired by Professor Cath Mummery at UCL, was established in 2011 to bring together world-leading research expertise and infrastructure funded by the NIHR and located in major universities and NHS Trusts across the UK to accelerate translation of discoveries in dementia and neurodegenerative disease research into clinical practice.
It currently involves nine of the NIHR’s Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs) with five additional centres of excellence across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The vision of the D-TRC is to maximise the impact of translational research in dementia and to expand the capability and capacity of the dementia workforce, to improve coordination and collaboration across these world-class centres within the current UK dementia research landscape.
The Dementia Translational Research Collaboration (D-TRC) Manager will provide overall operational leadership, manage collaborations, and drive productive interactions between the participating experts and external partners, including industry. You will coordinate across the D-TRC, working within, and at the intersection between, universities, NIHR CC, NIHR Biomedical Research Centres (BRCs), Clinical Research Facilities (CRFs), and affiliated centres of excellence. You will be a highly visible and respected source of advice on both large strategic and small practical issues to senior academic and administrative colleagues, across the D-TRC. The post is central to the success of the D-TRC, and the postholder works closely with the Chair, the Deputy Chairs, and the NIHR Collaborations Team in developing strategy and policies in support of the D-TRC’s objectives, and in response to the research priorities and aims identified by its members.
A key role for the D-TRC Manager is to work with external partners, including industry, and other relevant national stakeholders such as specialist societies and patient organisations in both mental and brain health. You will work to identify shared objectives to foster collaborative research programmes that can leverage external funding.
The role is available immediately and funded by the NIHR until 31 March 2026 in the first instance.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 50% of time on site.

You’ll have a degree in a biomedical discipline, senior project management experience, and proven experience of working at a strategic level with multiple partners.
