The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We currently have two vacancies for a Food & Beverage Assistant. The positions are working 5 out of any 7 days per week on a permanent contract and vary in hours and contract type, so we ask that you note your preference (or state if you are happy to be considered for all) in the supporting statement on your application. The positions available are below:

25 hours per week – 52 week per year

36.5 hours per week – 42 weeks per year*

*For the 42 week role the suggested (but not guaranteed) non-working period is 4 weeks at Christmas and early January, 2 weeks at Easter and 4 weeks from the first Monday in August.

The roles are at our campus, covering lunchtime service during the week, although evening and weekend work is occasionally required through term time and will be required throughout summer. As a Food & Beverage Assistant you will be required to ensure that the day to day running of the catering operation is smooth and that customers are provided with a high standard of service at all times. Your responsibilities will include taking customer orders, serving food and drink, working on the tills, stocking food stations and assisting with cleaning and clearing tables and catering areas. Full details of this role are included in the job description.

If you are a student at University of Bath, please consider our casual, hourly paid roles, which can be more flexible around your study commitments than our permanent roles. Ensure you can commit to Monday-Friday lunchtime shifts before applying to this permanent role. For University of Bath students, hourly paid roles at the University can be found here: www.thesubath.com/jobs/

The successful candidate will have experience of providing an excellent standard of customer service in a customer focussed environment. Previous experience of working in the Hospitality industry would be an advantage. You should be a good team worker and be able to be calm and professional in high pressure situations, as it can be extremely busy during peak times.

Training and uniforms are provided. There are opportunities for development and to seek promotion in this role. Other benefits include a generous leave entitlement, including closure over the Christmas period, a pension scheme and access to many of the University’s top quality facilities and services.
