The Department of Economics is one of the largest economics departments in the World, with over 70 faculty and 1100 students. The Department is seeking a highly committed and motivated Faculty Affairs Officer to work within the department’s Operations team, supporting high profile professors and the Faculty Affairs Manager in delivering objectives and business support.
The post holder will need to have proven administrative experience at a senior level with a particular focus on complex diary management and outstanding attention to detail and accuracy. Experience of financial and business support is highly desirable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential along with experience of minute taking for high profile meetings and confidence in dealing with external contacts at the highest level. Previous experience working in a Higher Education setting is desirable, but an understanding of academic processes is needed. The postholder will have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of people to work collaboratively with departments across the school, and with sub-teams within the Department.
The elements of the role require a high level of planning, organising workloads and collaborative working, along with balancing the needs of individuals, whilst managing expectations.
The post holder should be able to demonstrate experience of planning a busy workload with a variety of tasks and multiple deadlines. They will also have proven examples of complex diary management, coordinating travel plans and event planning.
Strong IT skills are essential for the role, to create HR packs and minutes. The postholder will also need to be competent in cross-checking data and be able to send important emails to multiple academic faculty with confidential documents attached.
