Are you an experienced Financial Accountant looking for your next challenge? Birkbeck, University of London is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join our friendly, dynamic Accounts team this Autumn.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, and with two Assistant Financial Accountants in the Financial Accounts team, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of financial accounting including balance sheet reconciliations, treasury management, compliance, year-end processes and tax-related matters.
As someone who thoroughly understands fundamental accounting principles, you will offer guidance, support and training on all aspects of financial accounting to colleagues within the Finance Department as well as a variety of staff in faculties and service areas.
You will also be responsible for managing the Payments (Accounts Payable) team ensuring that suppliers are paid accurately and on-time.
To be successful in this role you will be a fully qualified CCAB accountant and have a minimum experience of working in a pro-active high-performing financial accounting team. You will also have experience of managing a small team and have experience of working flexibly and effectively.
This exciting position offers broad experience across the accounting function with the opportunity to work closely with the Finance Business Partners and Payroll in particular. Liaising with a wider range of internal and external stakeholders including academics, faculty administrative teams, banks and auditors is a key part of the role so the ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders is essential.
The role is based at the Birkbeck campus in Bloomsbury, near Euston, with the opportunity for hybrid working.

Contract:
