Background
The Sustainability team is responsible for the management and improvement of institutional sustainability performance aligned with four workstreams: Education, Research, Operations and Engagement. The team works across environmental and social sustainability, using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a framework. As part of the Estates department, the team collaborates with colleagues from Professional Services and the Schools to embed sustainability in the University’s activities and implement low carbon initiatives to support our target of net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Responsibilities
The Sustainability Coordinator will be responsible for developing and supporting delivery against new objectives to be launched during 2024-25, in cooperation with colleagues in the Sustainability team and across the University. The focus will be on supplier engagement to reduce scope 3 emissions and internal stakeholder engagement to embed the new sustainability strategy.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about sustainability and its context within a business environment. They will be competent in working across various sustainability workstreams at a large, complex organisation and possess the motivation to learn new areas of expertise. The individual will need to be highly ambitious and organised, with the ability to manage workload across competing priorities. Excellent teamwork and communication skills will be essential and the successful candidate will demonstrate both their analytical thinking and creativity.
