The Post

This post will be central to the launch in 2025 of our new MSc in Podiatry programme and contribute to the curriculum development and delivery of the Podiatric specific modules. The post holder will be a registered Podiatrist with the HCPC and have current and relevant clinical and educational experience in this area of practice. The preference is that the successful candidate will hold experience within general Podiatry practice. Experience of medical/surgical and/or stroke rehabilitation would be a significant advantage and complementary to our existing Podiatry lecturing team.

The successful candidate will have or be working towards PhD or equivalent. They will also have experience of delivering online and face-to-face teaching (academic or clinical) at both under-graduate and post-graduate level using an evidence-based approach. The successful candidate would have a solid understanding of healthcare, healthcare administration and/or healthcare education. The post demands a broad experience of multi-disciplinary team working, professional research networks and successful collaborations with healthcare professionals in relation to excellence in practice, innovation and improvement.

Description of Duties

Teaching and Research

  • Engage in individual and collaborative research, which aligns to the strategic direction of the University, establish a distinctive programme of research and disseminate results through regular publication in high impact journals, books and conference proceedings
  • Identify appropriate sources of funding, prepare research proposals for funding bodies and manage grants awarded
  • Supervise research students and staff as required, providing direction, support and guidance

Teaching and Scholarship

  • Design, deliver, assess and evaluate a range of teaching and learning, supervision and assessment activities across undergraduate, postgraduate including online/digital programmes, where required
  • Contribute to curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports student learning and is underpinned by evidence based scholarly activity
  • Enhance the quality of teaching provision and programme development, drawing on leading practices from the HE sector

Essential Criteria

Teaching and Research

Qualifications:

  • PhD in relevant discipline

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Established track record of high quality published research
  • A record of involvement in applications for external funding for research and/or knowledge transfer
  • Experience of supervising dissertation projects across the range of undergraduate/ postgraduate and of supervising doctoral students

Teaching and Scholarship

Qualifications:

  • PhD in relevant discipline or equivalent professional and/or teaching experience
  • Higher Education teaching qualification or equivalent e.g. PGCert and/or holding or working towards Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA)

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of designing and delivering excellent learning activities and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate level preferably including online/digital programmes
  • Evidence of developing effective learning environments and approaches to student support and guidance
