The Wales Research and Diagnostic PET Imaging Centre (PETIC) boasts a state-of-the-art cyclotron-based production PET facility, which is situated in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
Our Equipment includes an IBA18/9 cyclotron with a range of targets, Gravatom hot cells hosting Fastlab and Trasis radiochemistry systems, automated dispensing systems and a fully equipped quality control laboratory with High performance Liquid Chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography, Multi-channel Analysis, Endotoxin and pH meters.
We produce radiopharmaceuticals to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards in purpose designed aseptic facilities and perform PET CT scans on our new GE Omni PET CT Scanner.
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for a HCPC Registered Clinical Scientist specialising in PET or Nuclear Medicine Physics to join our team of experts. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and flexible individual with a genuine desire to continually develop their PET Physics portfolio and qualify as a Medical Physics Expert.
We will also accept applications from candidates who are currently working towards becoming a HCPC registered clinical scientist. The department can support alternative routes to registration (e.g.: ACS Route 2 or AHCS STP equivalence). Applicants who hold a relevant MSc may be considered for appointment but would be appointed on a lower Band (Grade 6 - £40,247 -£45,163) per annum during training until successful HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist is achieved.
You will be working closely with the Director of PETIC and their Senior Management Team
to provide professional expert advice and guidance on Ionising Radiation, Positron Emission Tomography and Cyclotron processes and procedures to both our internal and external customers.
This post is full time (35 hours per week), available immediately and is open ended.
Salary: £50,694 - £55,295 per annum (Grade 7). Individuals usually start at the bottom of the pay scale, except in exceptional circumstances.
Please be aware that the Working week is normally Monday – Friday but on occasions, you be required to work flexibly on weekends to undertake research production and project deadlines when there is a business need.
