Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking an Associate Lecturer A for next Spring 2025 to teach Introduction to Social Psychology.

As an Associate Lecturer, you would teach:

You will have knowledge of contemporary social psychology and experience of lecturing to groups of up to 100 students and be qualified to the corresponding level of the award as required to teach (or demonstrate equivalent professional/industry level experience).

As an Associate Lecturer, you will be working closely with the other Associate Lecturer to organise, deliver and assess the module. Comprehensive materials for all lectures will be provided.

Further to the person specification, essential requirements for this role are:

  • Experience of lecturing to groups of up to 120 students.
  • MSc in Psychology or a related area (required); PhD preferred.

Salary and benefits

Payment is based on an hourly rate for contact hours worked. The specific rate depends on length of continuous service with the College and includes of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay. This hourly rate of £68.13 per hour is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.

Contract

Part-time, 3 month fixed-term contract. The module requires 10 teaching sessions, 3 hours each, delivered on Thursday either 2-5pm or 6-9pm during January to March 2025, according to a pre-defined teaching schedule (teaching is shared between the two Associate Lecturers).
