About the role

We are searching for a highly qualified and motivated Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design and Typography to join our team. This role is focussed on the delivery of both full-time and part-time pathways on the on-campus MA Graphic Design course. Candidates should be able to engage discursively with students, using a student-centred approach, which also emphasises practical and ethical aspects of professional practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the intellectual and creative development of our students, preparing them for vibrant careers in fields related to graphic design, including branding, editorial design, U/X, motion graphics.

Responsibilities include providing in-depth tuition on the key critical theories adopted by the course that are relevant to Graphic Design and the visual arts, encompassing elements from the cognitive linguistic enterprise. These include conceptual metaphor theory and frame theory. In addition, it is essential to possess a robust understanding of practical aspects of Graphic Design both digital and analogue to an industry standard. The candidate will be informed on contemporary developments and trends within the field and incorporate this into their teaching when possible.

An essential aspect of the role is providing an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to make the link between practice and theory. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate active engagement in research and participation in relevant conferences and groups. This is expected in order to contribute to the academic and professional growth of both the lecturer and the Master’s students.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a proven track record in research, scholarship or pedagogy, have strong IT skills, and be committed to a student-centred teaching and learning environment and to AUB’s making culture.
