The role
The Head of Student Success (Diversity) will sit within the Student Diversity and Inclusion pillar of the Student Journey team. The Student Diversity and Inclusion pillar includes the Student Inclusion and Widening Participation teams; focused on improving the equality of opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access, succeed in, and progress from higher education.
This role is an exciting opportunity to leading a dynamic and forward-thinking team, ensuring effective delivery of the University’s strategic objectives to increase access to under-represented groups and the development of new student success strategies within Faculties.
This role is new, but within an established team that has been at the forefront of widening access for students from under-represented groups in higher education.
What will you be doing?
Working closely with the Assistant Director for Student Diversity and Inclusion, and wider team, you will ensure the successful delivery of the University’s Access and Participation Plan.
You will develop innovate Widening Participation strategy and collaborate with the wider Student Diversity and Inclusion leadership team to plan new transition provision for students from under-represented groups once they are at the university.
The successful applicant will be a data informed, decisive leader for the team, who can foster collaborative working partnerships to ensure we meet the needs of our student population.

We are looking for someone with the ability to manage a team with complex moving parts, and lead through a period of transition into new strategic direction, who has excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience in providing leadership and management and good knowledge of the higher education sector, including awareness of issues in widening participation and student inclusion is essential.
