Anniversary Chair

In 2025, we will celebrate 125 years of University status by Royal Charter. One of the ways we are celebrating this important milestone is by making a significant investment in our research and appointing 25 new Anniversary Chairs. 

As someone with a growing track record of exemplary research, evidence by high quality impact and funding, this permanent appointment will offer you a sustained focus on advancing your research.  

We’re looking for diverse talent from across the world to help us make new discoveries and tackle global challenges. You will work with the brightest minds at the forefront of different subject areas to tackle the most pressing global challenges, and the opportunity to be mentored and supported by senior leaders at the University and beyond, and to collaborate with our strong networks of partners. 

You will be critical in driving the excellence of our research to make an even greater difference to the world around us. Join us as we celebrate our 125th anniversary, and be part of our ambitious, exciting future.

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • A PhD or equivalent qualification or body of work. 
  • An outstanding track record of Internationally excellent publications and research output.
  • Evidence of attracting significant funding, and planning and delivering exemplary research.
  • Demonstrable experience of inspirational leadership, high-level management and successful research and teaching collaborations. 
  • Role model academic citizenship, giving your time generously and getting actively involved with university life. 
  • Demonstrable evidence of internationally recognised and world leading research excellence through highly cited publications.
  • Proven ability to plan and lead the delivery of impactful research programmes.
  • Evidence of successful collaborations with other teams/institutions and significant success in obtaining external grants.
  • Experience of attracting and supervising high quality doctoral students and early career researchers.

We welcome applications from international applicants and can offer support for work visas. We may be able to look at Global Talent Visa if these are Grade 9 roles and all of the academic/researcher requirements are met as an alternative to Skilled Worker Visa.
