The School of Biosciences and the Division of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of Nottingham invite applications for a Teaching Associate in Agriculture and Agricultural Business Management. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, convening and delivering teaching on the School's undergraduate agriculture courses and in particular the Agriculture and Agricultural Business Management degree programmes and Agricultural Business Management modules. Teaching will primarily focus on practical aspects of UK agriculture, forage crops and grasslands for livestock and agricultural business management. The successful candidate must have a demonstrable and excellent understanding of UK agriculture and UK farm and agricultural business management. They will also be responsible for associated administrative and student support duties, as well as contribute to the School’s outreach, recruitment and student development activities, including practical on-farm activities.

The Agriculture degree courses are offered at the Sutton Bonington Campus within the School of Biosciences. Our degrees greatly benefit from our University Farm being located right next to Campus. The Sutton Bonington Campus is also home to the Centre for Dairy Science Innovation, an internationally-leading dairy science research facility. Candidates should, as a minimum, have a Degree, or equivalent, in Agriculture (including components of business management) / Agricultural Systems / Agricultural Economics or discipline relevant to the agricultural applications of business management to agriculture, food production or land management.  Candidates should preferably have a higher degree (MSc/PhD) in Agriculture (including components of business management) / Agricultural Systems / Agricultural Economics or discipline relevant to the agricultural applications of business management to agriculture, food production or land management.

Candidates must also have a demonstrable and excellent understanding of both UK agriculture in practice across a range of farm types and UK farm and agricultural business management. It is essential that candidates have the ability to travel to and from farms / research organisations in remote UK locations to support field courses.

The post is offered on a fixed term contract for 24 months. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours per week). Job share arrangements may be considered.
