The Department of History at the University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a Teaching Associate in Modern and Contemporary History with specialist knowledge on the history of British imperialism, anticolonialism and de-colonisation in the 20th Century. The role holder will have a PhD already awarded (or to be awarded by the time of the appointment) in the relevant subject area, or equivalent qualification, with teaching experience at undergraduate level in modern and/or contemporary history.
The role holder will convene and teach two third year undergraduate modules: HIST3108 ‘Rebels Against Empire: Anticolonialism and British Imperialism in the Mid-20th Century’; and HIST3128 ‘Crisis, What Crisis? The West, c.1970–2000’. Additionally, the role holder may supervise a number of undergraduate dissertations.
The role holder will contribute to an exceptional education for undergraduates in history and the Department’s teaching culture. The role holder will also contribute positively to the Department’s and School’s initiatives in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

About the role:
This is a part-time (18 hours per week), fixed-term post commencing 6th January 2025 until 30th June 2025.
