The opportunity
We are seeking a committed and motivated Assistant Librarian to support the delivery of high quality, customer-focused library services at University of the Arts London (UAL).
In this key role, you will provide Systems and Discovery support for staff and students by contributing to the management, co-ordination and development of library management systems, electronic resources and related technologies. The role is based at the Elephant & Castle site and is for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7 hours per day, with some flexibility, during core working hours.
There will be some opportunity to work from home, dependent on operational needs, but onsite working will be the main focus for this role.
About you
We are looking for someone with a customer-focused approach and a degree or equivalent qualification. You will have demonstrable experience of working in a library, higher education institution, or information role. The ability to work both as part of a team and independently without direct supervision is essential.
You should also have experience working with library management systems, a variety of e-resources, and online Discovery tools. Additionally, you must be familiar with best practices in troubleshooting and query handling within higher education.
A recognised library qualification or qualification in other information disciplines is desirable. This could include CILIP accreditation, non-academic library or archives experience, or qualifications like an NVQ, apprenticeship, or a postgraduate certificate/diploma (MA/MSc) in library or teaching.
