We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Category Manager to join the Procurement Team which sits within the Financial Services Department at the University. The Procurement Team is responsible for ensuring all non-pay expenditure at the University is committed in accordance with Public Sector regulations and achieves value for money.
Working with the Senior Category Manager and a wide array of internal stakeholders, you will be involved in day-to-day procurement requirements such as preparation, publishing, evaluation, award, and contract management of tenders relating principally to Professional Services and Research procurements.
Educated to degree level, you will have experience working in a busy procurement or purchasing related setting, and be currently working towards or willing to complete a full MCIPS qualification. You will have good communication skills using email, face to face communication, telephone, and writing as well as the ability to project manage from inception of a project through to completion. Whilst knowledge of Public Sector Procurement is preferable, it is not a full requirement, as long as transferable skills can be demonstrated.
We offer an excellent employment package including hybrid working, blending a mix of remote and on-campus working (dependent on work duties).
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Gold Award holder and Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.
