Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today. This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do.
The Faculty of Health strives to tackle health inequalities, social exclusion, and deprivation, both locally and beyond, through its undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, and an expanding programme of international partnerships and student opportunities. Situated within the Faculty of Health, the School of Nursing and Advanced Practice was established to enhance focus on undergraduate/postgraduate nursing and advanced multidisciplinary practice. The School has a long, proud history in nurse education and a sector-leading postgraduate provision. It has a reputation for its outstanding graduates and researchers, as well as for its significant portfolio which is growing each year with various local, regional, and national programmes.
We are now seeking to appoint an outstanding individual as Principal Lecturer in Undergraduate Nursing.
You will work alongside Programme Leaders to develop our high-quality educational provision and responsive curricula. You will provide leadership over curriculum development and enhancement of the portfolio whilst also line managing academic staff engaged in teaching, research, and enterprise. Working closely with the Subject Head, you will be responsible for the academic development and delivery of high-quality taught programmes in undergraduate nursing, including apprenticeships. Of significant importance is the contributions you will be able to make to the research portfolio and development of research capability across the team. You will also be expected to be research active, engage in one of the Faculty’s research themes, and be part of our continued development. You will also be able to demonstrate a growing national and international research portfolio and make contributions to the REF.
You must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK), educated to Masters Level with either a PhD or making significant progress towards completion, and have experience within a relevant field of nursing including some experience of teaching pre-registration nursing and nursing associate students and/or apprentices.
If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you. Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance will be required for this post at the appropriate level and Occupational Health clearance is required for the posts regulated by the NMC (to be undertaken upon appointment).
