Part-time (0.6 FTE), open-ended.
The University Chaplaincy invites applications for the role of Muslim Chaplain (0.6 FTE). This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team of chaplains who are committed to inclusivity and to supporting the diverse university community.
Resourced by their personal faith, chaplains offer pastoral support to all staff and students, irrespective of their identity, religion and beliefs and without seeking to impose their own faith on others. They work across Loughborough campuses and at Loughborough College to support everyone’s wellbeing and to enable exploration of matters of wellbeing, faith and spirituality.
The chaplain’s speciality is to provide a timely, confidential, non-judgemental listening service to individuals. Chaplains are pastoral practitioners who build relationships of trust through a kind, compassionate presence and in doing so offer help and support to wide range of people, sometimes for extended time periods. In addition to this important work, chaplains also lead and work collaboratively with colleagues from other professional services to run events throughout the year which help build a vibrant and inclusive community by enabling opportunities for encounter and connection across the Loughborough University family.
Reporting to the Lead Chaplain, the Muslim Chaplain will provide pastoral care and spiritual accompaniment to meet the needs of individuals and groups within the University, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all and contributing to the vision and wider aims of the University Chaplaincy. The role also involves coordinating and leading on religious services, educational programs, and offering listening support specifically tailored to the needs of Muslim students, staff and university tenants, as well as attendance and participation in the full calendar of chaplaincy events, including some specifically designed to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.
