The role

The NCCPE is looking for an Operations Professional to join us as an Operations Support Manager. The Centre is jointly hosted by University of the West of England (UWE) and University of Bristol (UoB), benefitting from being part of two vibrant universities.

We are working to build an inclusive higher education sector where communities can contribute to, and benefit from, knowledge, teaching and research. We do this by creating the conditions for public engagement to thrive in universities and building strong networks and partnerships to amplify our impact. We are committed to supporting equitable and inclusive practice; our commitment is public, and you can read more about it here NCCPE Statement of Inclusion | NCCPE (publicengagement.ac.uk)

The team is resourceful and entrepreneurial, and we are looking for people who thrive working in a flexible way in a small, but dynamic team. We strive to live our values and have created an inclusive and supportive working environment which aims to help our team to thrive and grow.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of NCCPE.

  • Manage the centre’s budget and financial reporting, making sure that we track our income, allocate our staff and other costs effectively, and ensure that we have robust financial information to enable us to make sound decisions.
  • Ensure timely and effective management of centre business processes through the internal administrative systems of the two host universities including contracting; input to forward planning and resource allocation; and lead on the continuous improvement of our business systems and processes.
  • Events experience is an advantage as you will also have a key role in ‘front of house’ activity for our extensive events and seminar programme, and operations support.
  • Communicate and build good working relationships with professional services colleagues, external partners, contributors and clients.
  • Chair team meetings occasionally and contribute to the centre’s learning and development activities.
  • Line manage the NCCPE’s two Team Administrators and the Directors’ Executive PA. You will help these individuals grow and thrive, allocating and managing the flow of work in the Operations team and making sure team members have the support they need.

You should apply if

  • Significant administrative experience, including monitoring & reporting on finances.
  • Excellent problem solving, planning and organisational skills, & expertise in designing and coordinating business systems and processes.
  • A track record of providing high quality customer service and support and will be confident and effective at building networks and developing strong working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and good knowledge of Microsoft & other professional software.
  • It would be an advantage to have experience of event management.
