The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. GOS ICH generates the funding for our research by setting out our proposals in high quality applications to public, charitable and industrial funding bodies and disseminates the results of our research by publication in the medical and scientific literature, to clinicians, policy makers and the wider public. About the role

An opportunity has become available to join a team of scientists researching childhood solid cancers with interests in development of new cellular therapeutics. The appointee will work within the team working predominantly on a project to generate universal “off the shelf” CAR expressing T cell products through genome editing using CRISPR based non-viral technologies. The appointee will require technical skills such as molecular cloning, cell culture and viral transduction. The appointment is for 1 year in the first instance but with expectation of further funding becoming available for extension including opportunity to register for part time PhD. The appointee will fall under the overall line management of Professor John Anderson. The salary offered in this role is £38,357 - £39,007 per annum at grade 6B. Main purpose of this role can be summarised as follows: • Lab-based research assistant in a defined project to improve functionality of CAR-T technology fo r childhood solid cancer. • Interaction with members of team. • Joining rotas to contribute to maintenance of lab, stocks, and ordering • Working within the Zayed Centre laboratories in a team of scientists with focus on development of new therapies for childhood cancer.

About you

The ideal candidate for this post will hold a master’s degree in biological sciences, have experience of working in a research laboratory environment, and have previous experience in viral gene therapy, primary T cell transduction, and immune assays.
