An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and successful respiratory research team to manage a portfolio of research including our world leading research laboratory and several multicentre clinical research studies as part of a dynamic research team, working alongside Professor Chalmers.
Role
The respiratory research group is a highly successful and active clinical research group conducting studies to find new treatments for lung conditions such as bronchiectasis, COPD and acute respiratory infections such as COVID-19. We are seeking an outstanding and experienced researcher to lead our research programme, working closely with Professor Chalmers to advance our world leading research. The respiratory research group is a highly successful multidisciplinary department within the University of Dundee medical school, consisting of clinical research teams conducting clinical studies, including trials, a respiratory research laboratory and a “dry lab” conducting data analysis projects. A key part of the role will involving co-ordinating these different research activities to ensure project success.
The role holder will also provide support across other studies within the respiratory team. Working closely with the Chief Investigator (CI), local and site research teams as well as scientists and data management team to ensure the successful delivery of our research studies, including research governance, maintaining ethical and regulatory approval, communication with and training of staff at collaborating sites, promoting the study to research networks and patient groups, maintaining trial documentation and reporting.
Staff Supervision
Expected to supervise laboratory and clinical trial staff and the overall conduct of clinical research studies. Will work alongside other team members including senior research assistants, research technician, PhD & other students and undergraduate project students and our nursing team in the clinical research centre.
The role will be based within the Division of Respiratory Medicine and Gastroenterology at the University of Dundee, embedded within a friendly and collaborative research team.
