The Position: We are looking for a Lecturer in Uniformed Services. Part Time - 22 hours per week

We are looking for a committed practitioner to join a successful team. The role would suit an individual who has experience in a Uniformed Public Service such as Police, Fire, Military or Prison Services and hold a Public Services related HNC/D or degree. Ideally, it would be desirable if you have had some teaching or training experience, and we can support the right candidate in completing a teacher training course. You will need to be flexible, be able to support the recruitment of students, be an ambassador for the college and participate in helping to develop the curriculum. You should be self-motivated and have the desire to enthuse students in an educational environment. The programmes you will be expected to be able to teach on include, BTEC L1 NCFE L2; L3 BTEC and HND Uniformed Services. You would be joining a successful team of practitioners lecturing in a range of Uniformed Services topics.

What skills are we looking for:

  • An ability to be flexible and to be able to communicate with learners studying at different levels.
  • Supportive approach to helping learners to develop and achieve their targets.
  • Empathy with learners in order to be able to understand their aspirations and goals.
  • Understanding of the expectations of the curriculum that needs to be delivered with respect to uniformed services.
  • Effective team working skills and potential to develop leadership qualities.

Responsibilities for the role:

  • Delivery of various subjects, so students can write up assignments and prepare for exams.
  • Plan and deliver topics that need to be taught across the academic year.
  • Create schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Show that you have ability as a lecturer and share resources and good practice.
  • Facilitate tutorials and support for learners preparing assignments and for exams.
  • Safeguarding learners.

The Location: You will be expected to work at Nuneaton and Wigston campuses.
