About the Role

The Communications & Content Assistant will be a key team member of the Internal Communications team within Communications & External Affairs, supporting delivery of timely and impactful communications to staff and students across the University. You will be responsible for creating, updating and publishing content for the University’s central channels (intranet, Viva Engage, Student News Hub), producing the weekly staff newsletter and monitoring performance of the channels. You will also be responsible for monitoring and triaging the busy internal communications mailbox, keeping the forward planner updated and supporting the team as required.

This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or relevant work experience  
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills, editing, and proofreading to a high standard. 
  • Ability to produce creative and compelling content for a wide range of audiences 
  • Understanding of analytics to measure and improve channels and content  
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities  
  • Able to work as part of a team and support others when necessary to ensure effective delivery of communications.
  • Ability to build effective relationships within the team and wider University. 
  • Excellent IT skills and a high level of technical aptitude (including use of MS Office, content management systems, video editing)

Desirable criteria

  • Interest in higher education  
  • Interest in Internal Communications
