Background
We are seeking a Research Associate to join a 12-month project funded by the British Medical Association to explore exercise habits in South Asian women and to develop new, culturally relevant routes to information and knowledge. The appointed researcher will join Dr Jonathan Quinlan in the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences and Dr Kanta Kumar in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Birmingham. The project will work directly with local members of the South Asian community alongside qualitative research methods, focus groups, workshops and co-design approaches. Ultimately, this project aims to produce new routes of knowledge dissemination for South Asian women, including multimedia.
Applicants should have a degree in a relevant subject in addition to direct experience of human research. Experience with qualitative research methods including leading workshops and group sessions with members of the public is preferred. Finally, the ability to speak Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi is desirable.
